I know I’ve been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer back to back for the first time and am a teensy weensy bit obsessed…  but LOOK!  This is hoody is hilarious!  Go Buffy!

Everyone has probably already heard that Stephenie Meyer is going to release the newest addition to her amazingly successful Twilight Saga.  It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella.

Not sure how I feel about this.  She was never a character that particularly captured my attention for more than a chapter or two and made me want to know more about her.

Nevertheless, it’s a book. With a vampire. ….Can’t……resist…..reading…….it!!

Actually, now that I think about it… it could be interesting. A young woman, who never saw a thing coming, made a vampire for nothing other than lies and vengeance.  Oooooo, if told right, it could be good.  ….I’ll read it.

Which reminds me… better review those Twilight books I read a couple years back here! May have to revisit those too.

Twilight

I remember watching the movie, being interested because it was a vampire love story. I am a sucker (HA!) for vampire love stories. I watched the movie thinking probably what every other female on the planet was thinking when Edward Cullen first walks through that door and Bella asks Jessica, “Who’s he?”… My god, he is beautiful…. swoooooooon!

Other than not being able to take my eyes off the beautiful actor who plays Edward Cullen, I thought the movie was ok. A little slow at times, but hey, I like the love stories with awkward moments – makes for an interesting relationship, to say the least. Then, I read the books, and I watched Twilight again and loved it.

I have to say, knowing the characters that Stephenie Meyer created and being with them for 4 books helped me with the movie Twilight. It didn’t seem as slow and I thought the director of the movie, Catherine Hardwicke, had a vision really meshed well with Meyer’s world in Forks.

The meadow scene was beautiful, but my favorite scene had to have been the baseball scene. And it was set to the music of Muse, my favorite band. The movie really had great music all around – Blue Foundation, Muse and the Iron & Wine song at the end was absolutely a beautiful choice for that moment.

Edward & Bella

The sweeping views of the mountains and the overall mysterious bluish tinge to the movie made it a very pretty movie to watch. And I know that there are a lot of haters out there, but I love that the vampires in Meyer’s world sparkle! An interesting twist on the vampire myth, among the others she came up with.

So, even though this movie has vampires in it, I saw it as more a love story.  And as far as love stories go, I liked Twilight. I’ve seen New Moon, which I will review at a later date, and am really looking forward to Eclipse.

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Yes, I must admit I got through the whole Twilight series in about 2 days. (Pleeeeeeese finish Breaking Dawn, Stephenie, pleeeeeease!) I couldn’t put it down. The characters are addicting as well as the story. Yes, I had my moments where I found myself rolling my eyes going, “Oh, man… really???!!!  Ok, I’ll go with it!”. But, come on.  It is a young adult book. And for that – such wonderful books with unforgettable characters.

The Cullens

The vampire legend evolved with the Twilight Saga. There are fresh new ideas and twists to the vampire legend. Vampires that sparkle in the sunlight! I can deal with that! A vampire that is even more beautiful than I ever imagined?? Yes, please! Avoid the sunlight because they gleam like diamonds instead of burn to ashes, yes I can definitely handle that and so can my stomach!

Midnight Embrace

So, I just finished a book called Midnight Embrace by Amanda Ashley (because I am on a mission to read ALL vampire books). I must admit it had no depth to it. And although I read it entirely in about 2 days (because how can I resist a vampire story????) I found myself laughing when I turned the last page.

The story was not that interesting and the vampire …. so so.  How can you have a vampire be a so so character? Dammit, it was even a ROMANCE novel!! (Ok ok I know…. a romance novel? Really?  Yes really.. ALL vampire books!)  At least it could have had some steamy sexy vampire love scenes.  I want eternal lust and love!! …but, nooooooooooooooooo….. even the sex scenes were pretty lame.

So, I will give this particular book — V 1 fang.

So, I ask… what is the next great vampire book? Pleeeeeease! I’m aching to read one!
