I recently watched the vampire movie, Cirque du Freak – The Vampire’s Assistant. I have to say, I got it thinking that it was just going to be another crappy vampire movie… but hey, I’d give it a chance.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
*whispering* it was actually really entertaining! Quick plot synopsis: 2 kids go to a side show to see some freaks and they meet a vampire who kind of adopts one of the teenagers. The kid then becomes half vampire and joins the circus side show, has some crazy adventures and has to choose whether or not he goes to the dark side. Bwa ha ha ha!
Anna’s Fang Rating System. V to VVVVV
Now, because I like to review all the vampire books and movies that I come across, I decided to create my own rating system. And of COURSE I needed it to be vampire themed!
So thus, my fang rating system. I will rate the books I read and movies I watch on a system of 1 fang (V) to 5 fangs (VVVVV). 5 fangs being great on the Anna scale and 1 fang meaning that it sucked (no pun intended! HA!).
Enjoy!
I recently revisited the vampire movie, Interview With the Vampire, based on the book of the amazing Anne Rice.

Interview with the Vampire
I rent or buy vampire movies hoping and hoping that they will be good, satisfying and sweet vampire FUN!
Well, I had never seen Rise: Blood Hunter before tonight. Even if it did start out a bit cliche and kind of cheesy, as I continued watching I started really liking it! Sure, it’s a bit lame in parts and made me roll my eyes and laugh out loud in other parts but at least it’s enjoyable.
Part of me started watching thinking… really? Lucy Liu? As a vampire? AND a vampire hunter? But in the weird scheme of the movie, her slightly dominatrix acting style worked. For enjoyment purposes, of course!
There were some classic vampire themes going on – thirst for blood, confusion of the newly turned, contempt for the one that made the newborn, no reflection in mirrors – but they can venture out into the sunlight, have no fangs (the use a small fingernail-like dagger) and drink alcohol and water (sounds like the perfect vampire to me!). Definitely an evolution from the classic stories, but nothing new I must admit.
Yeah, it’s not the greatest movie in the world, but as far as vampire movies go… I liked it.
VVV (oh, yeah… 3 fangs)
