I must admit – I watched season 7 with no breaks, white knuckling my glass of red wine and holding my breath. I found myself trying to write a review for it and had to step back from the comptuer. Yes, step back from the computer, Anna. Slowly…. goooooood. How can a TV show be this GOOD??! I literally was in tears during the finale.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 7

I felt like one of the Scoobies, I had been with these guys from the beginning and watched them grow and shared the love and the loss.

Joss Whedon, I bow to you and your writers. I know that Season 6 was good, but I felt that all the seasons were just building up to this incredible series of events for our beloved characters.

What??! The end of the world is coming?? AGAIN???! This sounds like a job for Buffy and the Scooby gang!

There is a mystery going on in the wonderful world of Buffy – someone is killing off young girls all around the world and we find that, once again, Sunnydale is the epicenter for the end of the world. Loads of demons, vampires (you name it!) ready to unleash their evilness and destroy the world as we know it. Not particularly a new concept for this show, but I can honestly say that this plot was expertly played out.

This season had a wonderful new edge to it, particularly in filming style. I especially liked the documentary-like filming of episode 16 (Storyteller) by Andrew, formerly one of the evil geek 3 and now Buffy supporter. It gave the show an new silly and clever edge that I dare say has never been seen.

So, all the young vampire slayer wannabies descend on Sunnydale and Buffy starts to train them for the battle against the First Evil. We get appearances from all the important characters from past seasons – Angel, Faith & Giles. And with everyone’s help and Buffy to guide them (with a few mishaps along the way) they train an army of young-hormone-raging teenaged vampire slayers!

We have the new and mucho creepiness that is Caleb, the incredibly icky and strong new minion of the First Evil. I liked this bad guy. He was definitely evil, but I liked that he was normal looking. All the other epic bad guys in Buffy’s world were demons or huge wriggling snakes. It was almost comforting in a messed up kind of way to have a bad guy who dresses like a priest causing all the trouble!

And then there is the epic relationship that was Buffy and Spike. Personally, I always thought Buffy was crazy. I mean, come on. Angel was this broody whiney guy who did everything he did to help people because he felt guilty for the things he had done. Not that that is bad. Quite the contrary. Enter Spike (ok, I’m a bit biased he is one of my favorites!). SWOOOOOOOOON!

Spike is and always was the bad boy. Spike may have come to have a little remorse for what he did, but he didn’t do it out of guilt. He fell in love (yes, I love the sappy crap) and through his love and devotion to Buffy, he changed. He wanted to better himself. I got the feeling that he never truly felt guilt per se for what he had done, he accepted it as part of who he was and his past made him who he became. He truly grew throughout the whole Buffy saga.

I get that it’s hard to get over a first love. Almost impossible. But BUFFY!! I wanna smack you! I was in tears watching the last scene between Spike and Buffy. I truly think that she meant it when she told him that she loved him, but not in the way that he loved her.

It was, though, a poetic ending. Classic, too. Filled with longing, love, sacrifice, acceptance and redemption.

Buffy, I will always think that you are crazy. And though I hate you because your mourning time for my beloved Spiky was, like, 30 seconds, I love you overall and all of the Buffyisms you gave us.

I totally confess that this is a completely gratuitous post, but who can blame me… really? If you’ve watched True Blood on HBO or read the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, you know what I’m talking about! AAAAAAAAAAhhhhh!! Can’t stop dreaming of Eric!

So why Eric? Because he’s the ultimate bad boy – selfish, brazen, nonchalant, mischeivous, and oh so garsh darn SEX-AY!!

If y’all have read the books as well as watched True Blood, you know that they are reeeeally different in some aspects – Eric being one of them. We get to see some of his weaknesses early on in the HBO series, while in the books it takes a bit longer.

I would just like to thank Alexander Skarsgaard for bringing life (ha! or death, rather) to one of my favorite characters. He is exactly how I pictured Eric.

Yes, this season of Buffy was a great season in the history of TV in my opinion. I found myself getting caught up in it like I do the amazing shows that are on today, which I have been heard referred to as the Golden Age of television. Great stories and great writing. But this has vampires. And so is better.

The season started with a slight dilemma, Buffy died at the end of the last season. And Spike is sad. So Anna is sad. Willow says, hey no prob! And uses her magical wily ways to bring Buffy back. Thus the slaying and fun continue!

This season really develops Willow as a magic force to be reckoned with – and we also get to see the demise of her beautiful girl Tara. Seeing the reconciliation of Willow and Tara followed by Tara’s death and Willow’s transformation in to scaaaaaary Willow was truly heart wrenching – the writers just tugged and tugged at the heart strings on that one.

I did find it funny, yet highly annoying, that Buffy is kept running around and stumped by a few geeks from her high school. I mean, come on! She has defeated the master, countless creepy demons and a huge former-mayor-turned-GIANT-snake. And now she’s kept on her toes by pre pubescent Lex Luthors??! I guess it kept the humor going. The annoying humor. Ok, I kinda like Andrew.

And then there was my favorite part – Buffy and Spike. FINALLY. And during the collapse of a building. Hot. Totally meant to happen. I just adore Spike. Period. Buffy is crazy. I love Spike. Ok, there… I’ve said it.

Yup, this season rocked my Buffy world. Which has been pretty big lately, since, well… it’s all I’ve been watching lately! Help! Hope they keep it up for the last season!

Now, this probably has something to do with the fact that this has been the one book since the first book, Dead Until Dark, that has almost it’s entire focus on vampires.

Sookie accompanies the Queen of Louisiana to the US Vampire Summit on the shores of Lake Michigan so she can use her powers of telepathy to help keep the queen safe. The Queen has been accused of killing her vampire husband and must stand trial at the summit. And of course the summit is attended by most of the high ranking vampires in the US.

This book is stock full of danger, not only because Sookie is surrounded by vampires, but the vampires themselves seem to be in danger by the fanatical group, The Fellowship of the Sun. Sookie has some juicy encounters with her ex-boyfriend, Bill (le sigh, Sookie you’re crazy!) and Eric (le double sigh!!!) all the while learning more about Quinn, the weretiger she has been involved with. I love the story that has developed and is still growing between Sookie and Eric. Nuff said!

The mystery in this book is good, the story has good pace from the very beginning, and when the end of the book starts approaching I felt on edge and breathing harder! And it wasn’t just from Eric! (or was it…?)

I really don’t know what I’m going to do when I finish reading this series. Cry? (ha!) No, I’ll probably read it again and watch True Blood over and over. Or get addicted to yet another great vampire series! But this one, The Sookie Stackhouse Series, is my favorite at the moment.

Now, Season 4 was good. Season 5…. better. This season had me hooked from the very first episode, which features a showdown between Buffy and the most famous vampire of all (NO! not Edward!) …DRACULA.

I got all giddy and excited for this new season.

The writing in this season is far superior than the others. Not only are there kick ass storylines and lots of demons and monsters, but this season really starts playing with the viewer’s emotional involvement with the characters. They reeeeeally start playing with your emotions in this one. And I couldn’t get enough.

We get new characters in this season – Glory, a highly annoying god with a bad perm intent on destroying the world, and Dawn, a sister for Buffy and key of unlikely sorts. Rock on… But we also get the loss of a few key characters that rock the foundation and provide great new possibilities for good stories.

The Scooby Gang - Season 5

Buffy and her boyfriend, Riley, start having issues (mainly because he’s not a hot vampire with bleached out blonde hair) and Spike’s persistence with Buffy heats up (thank you thank you thank you!!)

The end of this season left me with my mouth open, chin to the floor and racing to get Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 6!
